ROAD REPORT
SUN DEC 20, 1998
NEEDLES, CA
STUCK IN NEEDLES!
"My ass hurts, let's stay here for the night."
Those were the words of Desi Doyen, after just four hours or so of driving out of colder
than usual Los Angeles.
It had been a later than planned start [some three or four hours!] trying to get out onto the open road to begin the 1998-1999 Holiday Roadtrip to the Lone Star State and back. So darkness came sooner than we might have liked. Fortunately, so did Needles, CA, shy just 30 minutes or so of the Nevada border.
The town of Needles, conveniently located off Interstate 40, and comprised of little more than $17.99 bargain Rosie's No-Tell Motel's would have to do for our first night sleep on our mad-rush first leg of the trip towards Big D [That's Dallas to you Yanks].
Christmas comes soon in these parts and so does nightfall, so we're pounding asphalt hard to make it over the river and through the woods to Grandma Louise's house by Silent Night.
Developing as the holidays roll in...
