The ROAD REPORT has learned first hand, that Lake Powell, which runs from the Colorado River on the North, to the Glen Canyon Dam at the Arizona/Utah border on the South, will infact, still be running in the year 2000!
Repeat.
Powell will run in 2000!
This barring any Y2K shutdown problems at the Dam itself.

PROOF THAT HOLLYWOOD ELITES CONSPIRED WITH CLINTONISTA'S IN MASSIVE 1996 UTAH LAND GRAB!
The informed ROAD REPORT reader will recall "President" Bill Clinton and "Vice Conspirator" Al Gore standing atop a canyon somewhere in 1996 proclaiming their photo-op backdrop as the next great "National Monument" for the United States of Amerika.
That Monument, known as the Grande Staircase Escalante, is made of breathtaking vermillion [pink and white to most of us] cliffs and startling red rock canyons that run north from the Glen Canyon Dam area at the Arizona border up to the Zion National Park area in Utah.

Since that time, "California Prune-Pickers", as the locals call 'em, have descended on the area, taking away seats on the Kanab City Council from the good Mormon folks in the area who have watched over the community for better or worse for hundreds of years!
One of the most fossil fuel rich areas in the world, was effectively cut off that day from the caring hands of American Corporate interests! And yet, Hollywood is still free to roam around and use the land in nearly anyway they like!
An eagle-eyed ROAD REPORTer noticed a small sign on rural Hwy 89 that runs through these parts. The sign simply stated "PARIA FILM SET - 5 MILES" with an arrow pointing towards the wilds of the canyon.

Of course, we took the five mile ride on unpaved off-roads until we could go no further. At the end of the ride, we discovered an old Western Hollywood film set! Some five abandoned buildings in all, apparently used in a multitude of films!
Coal companies be damned! Disney? Come on down!!
As the road disintegrated at that point, ROAD REPORT hoofed it another mile or so into the awesome striated canyons, only to find the abandoned graveyard of the old "Pahraeh Townsite". A monument was left there to the Smiths, Smithsons and Twitchells who attempted to live in these parts in the 1800's only to eventually give up due to "repeated flooding".
Was it flooding? Or the mighty outstretched arm of Michael Eisner that scared them away? You decide!

At the base of picturesque Zion Canyon in Zion National Park, the Virgin River runs right on by the Lodge! Openly accessible to anyone -- no matter the age! -- to hike, explore and take pictures!
So what do we tell our children??
